11th November is Remembrance Day,
When we honour soldiers passed away.
Today I think of Frontier Wars,
And my people who died in scores.
Defending our country, terrorism on our shores,
Warrior men murdered under whiteman’s laws.
Women & children also died at their hands.
The pain & blood runs deep on our homelands.
Their bravery & resistance I won’t forget,
Against the encroaching foreign threat.
Who sacrificed their lives for our survival,
From the outset of the whiteman’s arrival.
At 11am I will bow my head in respect & in silence,
Speak to my ancestors who died amongst such violence.
Thank them for all they did for country,
I will not let this be forgotten history.
