The naked aggression of Israel’s widely anticipated but sudden air attack on Iran this week comes as no surprise. For over 40 years the zionist propaganda machine in Israel, its U.S. and European backers have claimed that Iran wants to destroy Israel. Yet in that time it has been Israel and the U.S. that have been the aggressors.
In fact, since the Iranian revolution in 1979, which ousted the U.S. and Israeli maintained Shah, these powers have sought to bring Iran to heel and restore their hegemony over the Iranian people and their petroleum riches.
The U.S. and Israel have time and time again, violently attacked Iran. In 1980, the U.S. navy shot down an Iran Air civilian passenger plane. Between 1980-88 the U.S. armed, and supported Saddam Hussein in Iraq to wage a savage war on Iran with the deaths of nearly a million people. In 2021, US conducted an illegal assassination at Baghdad Airport killing General Qassim Soleimani, the leader of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps of Iran.
Israel has maintained a constant campaign of assassination of scientists, defence personnel and people of influence as well as car bombs and missile attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities; ostensibly to destroy the nascent Iranian atomic energy capacity. Israel with over 90 nuclear bombs is determined to be the only nuclear armed nation in the Middle East.
For the U.S., Iran’s crime is its rejection of subjugation while Iran’s support for the Palestinian people against the genocidal ethno-nationalism has made Iran the mortal enemy of the Israeli regime.
At this time, the relentless war machine of Israel aided by billions of dollars of direct aid from the U.S. and a continuous supply of the latest armaments has achieved some victories in Lebanon and Gaza. The fall of Syria to the U.S. backed jihadists has taken pressure off Israel for the time being.
Yet there is no ultimate victory for Israel. Internally there are great problems. With the war on Gaza the Israeli economy has taken a beating. Businesses are closed as vast sections of the workforce are drafted into the war. Those with dual nationalities have scuttled back to safety. The true Israeli death toll remains hidden as is the cost of war.
The chorus of support for the zionist project is diminishing. In Europe, the United States and here in the colony, people are awake to the lies that support Israel in its aggression across the Middle East.
People question the phrase “the rules based order” Whose rules? What order?
People are alive to the massive contradiction between the support for Israel by parliamentary politicians, the press and commentariat and what people are witnessing in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and now Iran.
The world-wide trend is that nations are seeking independence, freedom, sovereignty and development for their people. They are rejecting US Imperialist and European Imperialist interference in their affairs.
That contradiction and that struggle is intensifying across the Middle East.
