The Treacherous Work of the Labour Lieutenants of Capital
The investigations into the CFMMEU and the raid on their Melbourne office, arrests and persecution of officials and members all stem back to the collaboration of the BWIU and ACTU and Labor Party with the ruling capitalist class to smash a fellow building union, the BLF.
The BWIU, that became the CFMMEU, supported the BLF deregistration and went along with the claims the BLF was corrupt and a rogue union.
The ACTU and Labor orchestrated it all and the BWIU carried it out by having police and security officers accompany them on building sites to stand over BLF members, join the BWIU or be sacked, with the full support of the bosses.
We told them in 1986 that if they didn’t show solidarity and followed the ACTU and Labor the same thing would happen to them.
Now look, exactly the same claims, the same attacks.
No solidarity to speak of from the ACTU and the Labor Party in power, nationally and in Victoria and again carrying out the ruling class’s wishes.
It was an attack on the working class and on union wages and conditions in 1986 and it’s a further attack on working class conditions today.
The lesson is workers must adopt the slogan and belief that AN ATTACK ON ONE IS AN ATTACK ON ALL and there must be no collaboration with the ruling class.
