Why is Julian Assange abandoned by a grovelling Albo.

Julian Assange has been imprisoned in solitary confinement in His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh since 2019 after being kidnapped from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.

The U.S. seeks him for his work in exposing U.S. war crimes in the Wikileaks publications; Collateral Murder, The Afghan War Diaries, the Iraqi War Logs and various U.S.diplomatic cables.

Assange sought to appeal his extradition from the UK to the US on the grounds that it would threaten press freedom, that he wouldn’t get a fair trial, and that he would be tortured. However the U.K High Court disallowed his appeal. He faces a sentence of 175 years in U.S. prison.

On July 3, at the U.K Consulate in Sydney, people met to celebrate Julian’s 52 birthday and to call for his release.

In the meantime, the silence of the Albanese government after 14 months in power, betrays its grovelling attitude to its U.S. and U.K masters. It could assert sovereignty and enforce the protection of an Australian citizen who faces cruel and unjust punishment by a vindictive U.S. regime. Yet he and Foreign Minister Wong, wring their hands and allow this act of bastardy to drag on.
