U.S. Base at Pine Gap Arrernte country Northern Territory

For a defence force that serves the people of Australia with independence and sovereignty

All matters military confront Australians when they consume their media. A big debate is raging. Broadly there are two sides – one is a powerful, well resourced, highly paid coalition  supporting and supported by  the forces of U.S. imperialism.  Another coalition of progressive people, academics, journalists and former policy makers is building  opposition to integration and subservience to U.S. imperialism.

The servants of U.S. imperialism in Australia work at the highest levels of the political superstructure. The U.S. devotes considerable resources  to maintain power over ideas and policy in Australia. With careful cultivating of politicians, academics, military and think tanks, swathes of Australian politicians  and opinion-makers are invited to the U.S. for discussions and courses. Military personnel are seconded to  various  arms of the U.S. and U.K.  military. Likewise, academics and journalists, are duchessed at forums and conferences.  There are U.S Study Centres located on university campuses. And then there is the media, some like the Murdoch  owned News Corporation that spew the unadulterated line of “all the way with the U.S.A.” while others in the 9 Newspapers, ABC and The Guardian practise a  “nuanced”  softer view.

People can see the direction where the servants of U.S. imperialism are taking us. A range of influential people like John Menadue, Paul Keating and Bob Carr have called out the danger of  subservience to the U.S. They see a failed state with a monstrous debt,  declining economy with a belligerent military.  Australia’s colonial and recent military history is one of obedience to the imperial power of Britain from the Boer War to to Malaya in 1950’s . Subsequently, Australians followed U.S. imperialism into  Korea, Vietnam, and decades later Iraq and Afghanistan. This effectively made the Australian military a plug-in for the U.S. 7th (Pacific) Fleet and the U.S. air force. U.S. imperialism has a marine “training” base near Darwin. The U.S has Pine Gap spy base in the NT which is used for spying and and drone attacks across the world. Little wonder that Asian countries regard Australia as the U.S. imperialism’s “Deputy Sheriff”.

The AUKUS pact announced by the former LNP government with bipartisan support from the incoming Albanese ALP government is a further danger signal for  the Australian  people. The strategic point of the massively expensive  nuclear submarines is to operate with U.S. and U.K forces far from Australia to threaten sea lanes near China. This has set off alarm bells.

Progressive Australians understand the dangers of integration with the U.S. We need a United Front of all patriotic classes against the US and the local monopoly class attached to them. This United Front can and will achieve a truly independent Australia.
